CrossCode
CrossCode is a single-player action RPG and puzzle platformer, but it takes place in a fictional MMO. Your player character, Lea, is a player in an immersive MMO called CrossWorlds, where she interacts with both NPCs and other CrossWorlds players.
Lea’s friendships with her fellow players are an important part of the game’s story and these characters are developed well. Spending time with them feels good and reminds me of the powerful friendships I made when I first started playing MMOs.

Emilie-Sophie de Belmond
from CrossCodeEmilie is the first person to befriend player character Lea in CrossCode. She’s competitive, challenging Lea to races through the game’s instanced dungeons, but this clearly comes from a place of enthusiasm for the game and desire to rise to its challenges. She’s also quick to support Lea, share useful information, and invite her to join the same guild.
Emilie’s excitement for the game (as well as for its little touches like laser bridges) is infectious, and it’s hard not to be charmed by her stories about the wildlife the game’s enemies remind her of. She’s outgoing enough to befriend Lea despite the latter’s near-muteness and comes to care a great deal about her. She’s a loyal friend who’s fun to spend time with - plus, she’s a cute spunky redhead.
